FLY HIMALAYA

8th to 28th of October 2022

Bir Billing is a small rural village at the foot of the Indian Himalayan range. The village is within the administrative boundaries of the Himachal Pradesh region; a fascinating region so described in the Lonely Planet:

“Forested valleys, majestic mountain passes, Buddhist monasteries and the residence of the Dalai Lama: few Indian states can compete with Himachal Pradesh for its variety and the astonishing beauty of its landscapes.
Dominated by the mighty peaks of Dhauladhar, Pir Panjal and the western Himalayan ranges, Himachal Pradesh offers the ideal backdrop for many extreme sports, although many travelers are essentially attracted here by Tibetan Buddhist Tibetan culture.

CROSS COUNTRY INSIDE

The enormous cross-country potential of the place means that even this journey is inevitably in the name of cross country, therefore the pilots are joined by expert guides, in analyzing weather conditions, planning flights, and evening de-briefing. The latter aims to allow participants to make the most of the conditions on subsequent flights in the margins of maximum safety.
The particular orography of the territory, the demanding aerological conditions, and the typically Indian logistical difficulties make it very useful, if not indispensable, to be able to benefit from an organization able to manage and plan the best flight cross especially if you have the desire to fly over the internal valleys that extend towards Manali (north-east of Bir).
Below are listed two flights representative of the two main routes:

1) following the main ridge.

2) Big mountains XC

Other stuff to do

An explosive mix between the charm that India unquestionably exercises in our Western culture and the influences of the Buddhist culture that has found refuge in the Himachal Pradesh from Chinese persecution, make this area an extremely rich and multifaceted area: from naturalistic charm to the socio / political / religious one. Many opportunities: simple treks on the crests of the piedmont that overlook the snow-covered valleys and the imposing Himalayan peaks; “spiritual” treks among the many Buddhist and Hindu monasteries that dot the entire territory; relaxing yoga lessons; visit to the public baths but, above all, visit to the city of Dharamsala and in particular to the village of McLeod Ganj, place of residence of the Dalai Lama and of the Tibetan government in exile.
